The 28th edition of St-Art
PRESENTATION
ST-ART has established itself as a major event in the European art market as well as an unmissable cultural rendezvous in the Grand Est region.
This edition will be marked by a significant renewal of its participants. Among the fifty or so galleries from Alsace, France, and Europe expected, more than a third will participate in ST-ART for the first time or will be making a return.
The 28th edition will take place from November 29 to December 1, 2024, at the Strasbourg Exhibition Center, with the opening on November 28.
GLASS ART IN THE SPOTLIGHT
ST-ART shines a spotlight on glassmakers and the galleries that support them. Near the Vosges forests, Alsace has remained a key hub for the fire arts for several centuries. Three exceptional glass art sites, known as the "Terrestrial Stars," are joining ST-ART to showcase the richness of crystal artistry. The Lalique Museum will present reissues of works conceived by René Lalique, as well as contemporary collaborations with architects like Zaha Hadid. The Meisenthal glass site will exhibit contemporary works from the Studio Glass movement from the Museum of Glass collections and pieces by the International Glass Art Center (CIAV). As for the Saint Louis crystal works, visitors will have an immersive experience through an augmented reality headset, allowing them to explore the skills and creations of this and the other two sites up close.
ESGAA (European Studio Glass Art Association), a partner of this edition, will present a piece by Joan Crous, a Catalan glass artist specializing in hot glass sculpture. Additionally, the CERFAV (European Center for Research and Training in Glass Arts) will showcase a selection of the finest works produced by seven of its former students.
LAUNCH OF THE EUROPEAN YOUNG CREATION PRIZE
For its 28th edition, the contemporary art fair ST-ART, in partnership with the Strasbourg Society of Friends of the Arts and Museums (SAAMS), is launching the European Young Creation Prize. Open to all artistic practices, this award aims to recognize emerging talents under 35 who work, reside, or have studied in Europe. It will honor both an artist and their gallery. The competing artworks will be evaluated by a panel of experts during the Preview on November 28, 2024. The winner will receive a trophy crafted by the International Glass Art Center of Meisenthal, a prize of 2,000 euros, and a dedicated exhibition space for a solo show at the 2025 edition of ST-ART.
COMMITTED TO YOUNG TALENT
ST-ART is renewing its collaboration with the Haute École des Arts du Rhin (HEAR), offering students and recent graduates a valuable opportunity to enter the art market. The exhibition “Circuit Court: From Artist to Collector!” will highlight a curated selection of artworks for sale, showcasing the school’s specialties in Illustration and Object Art, including workshops in Jewelry, Wood, Book, Metal, Clay/Ceramics, and Glass. This initiative allows young creators to present their work in a professional setting, engage with collectors’ expectations, and benefit from immediate visibility.
TRIBUTE TO RAYMOND WAYDELICH (1938-2024)
The fair will also pay tribute to Strasbourg artist Raymond-Émile Waydelich, who passed away in August 2024. Known for his work around the concept of the "memory of the future," this sculptor, painter, and photographer represented France at the Venice Biennale in 1978.
Raymond Waydelich, a long-standing participant of ST-ART, will hold a special place this year thanks to the support of his brother, Francis Waydelich, who will present paintings and sculptures by this uniquely witty artist.
Collectors' Dinner
Friday, November 29, 2024, come experience a memorable evening dining at the heart of ST-ART.
Whether you are an art enthusiast or a fan of unique experiences, this one-of-a-kind event will give you the opportunity to interact with the galleries and artists present, discover the artworks in an intimate setting, and meet other guests.
